12:31 am - A new genre, EuroGoth! Eurodance + goth

Sweden entered the 2007 eurovision with this amazing piece, a goth themed eurodance number.

I want to see this idea taken further, a full and proper combination of the best of gothic stylings with eurodance beats to form EuroGoth. Perky dance music with dark undertones on the truth of life, beautiful dark lows and soaring meaningful highs! How can anyone resist?!

Who wants to see EuroGoth become the respected genre it deserves to be?

04:49 pm - Spam makes a good song title
One of the bits of spam at work today had as it's subject line:

"ashtray autobiography"

Is it just me, or would that make an awesome song title?

08:03 pm - Another meme
Name the album game.
100 albums, four suggested names for each, can you identify them all?

I managed 47, not too bad for someone with a small album collection!

04:09 pm - [LJ2ME] Music to code by
As I coded coursework for uni last night, I found myself wondering: what do other people listen to when coding?

I know a lot of you reading this code, and more still have had to do so at one time or another.

Personally, it's usually enigma, or the traditional sound of hacking, pink floyd :p

But what do you lot find that works?

05:31 pm - Music Meme
This meme is fairly dependant upon you listing 10 artists before seeing the Q&A following...
I've tried to list artists of which I've actually got whole albums, which means a few single tracks I listen to regularly at the moment are not listed.

First, list 10 favourite artists:

1. Alanis Morresette
2. Savage Garden
3. Enigma
4. Crispin Mills (Kula Shaker, etc)
5. Hoobastank
6. U2
7. Wildhearts
8. Led Zeppelin
9. Yes
10. Pink Floyd

Then there's some questions... )

01:19 pm - All kinds of updates....
Goodbye, Suzie: 199x - 2006
In very sad news, I learnt on wednesday night that my family's dog died :(
She was a wonderful Jack Russel, who was obviously older than the people at the rescue centre had thought.
According to my folks, she had a wonderful weekend, but on monday morning her head was drooping and she was walking oddly. Vet thought she had suffered a minor stroke, and on wednesday they did some exploritory surgery. Turns out the poor girl was full of cancer, everywhere.
Was very sad on wednesday night, had some cake and watched "Dave" to take my mind off it.
To para-quote a friend: "Time doesn't heal any wounds - that's cake's job"
Been able to think back and remember the good times now, but I'm worried for my parents. Since my sister and myself left home, they've needed the company Suzie gave.

Medical stuffs
Had a doctor's appointment last thursday (week before yesterday). Ended up being another case of the NHS believing that your life should revolve around your medical conditions, rather than the far more sensible other way around. *sighs*
On the plus side, though, I'm getting help for the ongoing depression now, though. But apparently you need a blood test and ECG before taking SNRIs o.O

Dance mats
It's about time I got some good quality ones so that I can get back to doing such things, release stress, cope with exams, and loose some weight. Anyone have any advice on such things?

Jeff Wayne's "The War of the Worlds"
I put 'the' in italics, since I recall reading an amusing little story on how Jeff Wayne is actually the rights holder to "the war of the worlds", anyone else has to use "War of the worlds", hence the recient film's title.
My folks sent me a copy of the album today, and I managed to listen to the first half before heading out to uni. My word, there really needs to be more stuff like this! It's amazingly impressive, and the music actually works! The alien screeches made me shiver the first time I heard them! And as the first half drew to a close with the destruction of Thunder Child, I was almost crying, the effect of the story with the music was such! I'll certainly have to add this to the list of things to see done live one day - I really wish I had gone to see them when they were touring last year!
Anyone up for doing one of these for any of John Wyndam's work? I can see the concept working well for "The Kraken Awakes" or "Day of the Triffids".

I'm singing the opening song to myself now ^^

The odds of anything coming from Mars,
are a million to one,
he said.

The odds of anything coming from Mars,
are a million to one,
But still,
They come!
